Help Us Save the Innocent Victims of War – The Forgotten Animals of Ukraine
In times of war, the innocent often suffer the most. While the world’s attention is rightly focused on the people whose lives have been torn apart, there is another tragedy unfolding in silence—the desperate plight of animals left behind. These pets, who once knew the safety of a warm home and the love of a family, have been abandoned through no fault of their own. They are wandering the streets, cold, hungry, and scared, in search of the love they lost.
Imagine having to flee your home with just the clothes on your back, knowing you can’t bring your beloved pet with you. This is the heart-wrenching reality for so many families in Ukraine, forced to make the impossible choice of leaving their pets behind. These animals—who have never known how to survive on their own—are now in a war zone, exposed to dangers they can’t understand, starving and suffering.
But amidst the chaos, there is hope. Brave volunteers are risking their lives to rescue these forgotten animals, going into dangerous, bombed-out areas to bring them to safety. The shelters, however, are overflowing. The animals—so many of them injured, malnourished, and terrified—desperately need food, care, and a safe place to heal. Without enough resources, many shelters are at their breaking point.

Thanks to the kindness of people like you, we’ve been able to provide food and shelter for 780 dogs and 343 cats who were rescued from war zones. But there are countless more waiting, hoping for a second chance. With your support, we can continue this life-saving work.

With deep Ukrainian heritage and personal connections to those affected by the conflict, we have witnessed the devastation not only for the people but also for their beloved animals. As countless families were forced to flee, many were unable to take their pets with them, leaving these vulnerable animals behind. For many, the heart-wrenching decision to leave their indoor pets on the streets, exposed to harsh weather and without food or shelter, was an unimaginable tragedy.
One of the most dire situations we’ve encountered comes from a shelter in Ukraine, bravely going into war-torn areas to rescue animals left behind. In regions where bombs fell and people had no choice but to escape, animals were left starving, injured, and frightened. Within a matter of months, shelters were overwhelmed—facing an overflow of rescued animals and struggling with limited funds and space to care for them.
Our hearts could not turn away from these suffering animals. Through the generosity and support of our community, we have been able to make a difference. We are proud to share that we’ve provided critical food and care for 780 dogs and 343 cats rescued from war zones. These animals, once abandoned and left in desperate conditions, are now safe and fed because of the collective compassion that drives us.
